Zombie Idle Defense (often subtitled “Zombie Idle Defense: Offline” on Android/iOS stores) is a casual lane defense and idle shooter hybrid built by OneSoft Global. You command a small squad of survivors who hunker behind a barricade while endless zombie waves march in from the right side of the screen. Core play is active: you tap or hold to fire, drag-and-drop different soldiers into the lineup, and trigger their ultimates when hordes get thick. But it layers idle/AFK systems on top—when you’re offline, the squad keeps “auto-farming” cash, so you return to resources you can spend on weapon DPS, barricade HP, or unlocking fresh units.

Progression revolves around juggling three upgrade plates:

  1. Heroes & Weapons: Each survivor has a unique kit (SMG spray, shotgun cone, flamethrower, etc.) and a star-based upgrade path. As you promote them you unlock passive bonuses (e.g., crit chance, splash radius) and new active skills.
  2. Barricade & Tech Tree: The front-line fence has its own HP/armor track, plus tech nodes that grant global buffs—grenade cooldown reductions, gold drop multipliers, slower zombie movement.
  3. Support Items & Pets: You gradually add drones, turrets, or throwable gadgets (freeze bombs, napalm canisters). These cooldown-based tools are vital for elite waves and boss fights.

Runs play out as multi-stage campaigns, each with 10–15 waves culminating in bosses that have armor plates or AoE shockwaves you must dodge via shield timings. Difficulty spikes gently early on, but midgame expects you to min-max weapon synergies (e.g., pairing the cryo gun with the Tesla cannon so frozen zombies shatter faster).

Because it’s free-to-play, monetization shows up via:

  • Optional ad multipliers (double offline gold, instant weapon boosts)
  • Premium currency (gems) for gacha-style hero shards
  • Limited bundles for powerful legends like the Gatling Gunner or Tesla Engineer

Still, everything can be earned by grinding stages, clearing daily missions, and completing survival “expeditions,” so it remains friendly to non-spenders if you don’t mind the idle slow-burn. Operations like “Defense Wars” (endless mode), “Mutant Zone” (boss rush), and rotating events provide extra currencies and keep the loop from feeling too repetitive.

If you enjoy tap-heavy shooters but want progression even when you’re offline, Zombie Idle Defense scratches that itch: short, high-intensity sessions with lots of meta upgrade tinkering, wrapped in cartoon gore and B-movie humor.
