Pudgy World Phishing Scam Is Targeting Crypto Wallets

Malwarebytes has issued a warning about a phishing website that closely mimics the Pudgy World browser game, tricking users into revealing their cryptocurrency wallet passwords. This fake site, operating under the domain pudgypengu-gamegifts[.]live, is part of a broader strategy to dupe users into compromising their digital assets through the guise of official game activities.

How the Scam Works

The phishing site closely resembles the legitimate Pudgy World game by using the game’s official branding, icy background artwork, and the blue-and-white color scheme familiar to users of the Pudgy Penguins brand. When players attempt to connect their crypto wallets to the site, as would be necessary in the real Pudgy World, they encounter a fake wallet interface that closely mimics the unlock screens of popular wallet software. This deceptive resemblance fools users into entering their wallet passwords, allowing the scammers to steal their crypto assets.

The Official Game and Brand

Pudgy World is an open-world metaverse game developed by Pudgy Penguins, Inc. and launched in March 2026. The game is free-to-play and accessible via a browser, offering a rich virtual environment for players to explore. The game’s official site, pudgyworld.com, provides detailed information about the game mechanics, characters, and world, distinguishing it from scam sites.

Recognizing the Scam

Users should be cautious when connecting their crypto wallets to any site that appears to be Pudgy World. The Malwarebytes post notes that the scam site uses eleven different wallets to create convincing forgeries, highlighting the need for vigilance. Players are advised to carefully inspect the domain of any site they encounter to ensure it matches the official Pudgy World domain before entering their wallet credentials.

Malwarebytes emphasizes the importance of staying informed about such phishing tactics and recommends users to verify the legitimacy of any site they encounter that requires access to their crypto wallets. This warning is part of a broader effort by cybersecurity experts to protect users from the increasing threat of phishing scams targeting the crypto community.
