Crypto Gaming Glossary
Plain-English definitions of the metrics and index methodology JRPG uses to track Web3 gaming tokens: token health, wash trading, the index and the numbers behind it. Each term links to its full explainer where one exists.
- Annualized volatility
-
Annualized volatility measures how far a price or index swings, scaled to a yearly figure so different assets compare on one axis. Higher volatility means larger, faster moves in both directions, which signals more risk around the headline value. It captures the size of the swings, in either direction.
- Capped weighting
-
Capped weighting limits how much any single token can sway an index. In JRPG's GTI-20 and GTI-100, each token's weight tracks its market cap but caps at 10 percent, so no one coin dominates the benchmark. The Composite leaves weights uncapped. The cap keeps the benchmark broad and representative of the whole gaming sector.
Full guide - Circulating supply
-
Circulating supply is the number of a token's units available and trading on the open market, leaving out locked, reserved, or unissued tokens. JRPG pairs it with the live price to calculate market cap. When a data provider stops reporting a token's supply, JRPG estimates the market cap from the last known figure and labels it estimated.
- Constituents
-
Constituents are the individual gaming tokens that make up an index. JRPG's Gaming Token Index picks its constituents by market cap: GTI-20 holds the top 20, GTI-100 the top 100, and the Composite holds every eligible token. A token joins or leaves as its market cap crosses the threshold, and the index adjusts so that change alone never moves the level.
Full guide - Drawdown from the high
-
Drawdown measures how far an index or token sits below its highest point over a window, shown as a percentage. A 20% drawdown means the value is a fifth under its peak and has not recovered. It captures the drop from the peak, a wider lens than a single day's move.
- Estimated market cap
-
An estimated market cap is what JRPG derives when a data provider stops reporting a token's circulating supply. We multiply the last-known supply by the current price and label the figure estimated, so the token keeps a comparable size while its supply number is stale. Only the supply input is dated; the price stays live.
- Gaming Token Index
-
The Gaming Token Index is JRPG's market-cap benchmark for the Web3 gaming sector. It tracks the combined value of qualifying gaming tokens across three views: GTI-20 (top 20), GTI-100 (top 100), and the uncapped Composite. Each starts at 100 on January 1, 2024 and updates daily, so the level shows how the sector has moved since then.

-
Holder concentration measures how much of a token's circulating supply sits in its largest wallets, the top 10. High concentration means a few holders can move the price when they trade, while a broad spread of holders lowers that risk. JRPG reports the top-10 share on each token page as a read on ownership balance.
- Index divisor
-
The divisor is a scaling number the Gaming Token Index applies so that adding or removing a token, or backfilling missing data, never moves the index by itself. A membership change resets the divisor, so only real price moves shift the index value. It keeps the line continuous across rebalances.
- Index level (base 100)
-
The index level is the Gaming Token Index's headline number, set to 100 on January 1, 2024 and moved only by its constituents' price changes. A level of 150 means the tracked gaming market has risen 50% from that baseline. The level is an index reading, not a dollar price.
- Market cap
-
Market cap, short for market capitalization, is a token's live price multiplied by its circulating supply. It measures the token's total on-chain value, a fairer basis for comparing two gaming tokens than their per-token prices. JRPG marks a market cap estimated when the supply figure goes stale.
- Shill detection
-
Shilling is coordinated hype: promoters push a token through paid or undisclosed promotion to inflate demand. JRPG's shill detection flags the signals that a token's attention looks manufactured, which helps separate genuine community interest from paid noise around a gaming token.

-
A signal score is the 0 to 100 output of JRPG's Wash Trading Detector for one token. It measures how much the token's reported trading resembles wash-trading patterns, such as volume dwarfing market cap or volume rising while the price stays flat. A low score points to organic activity; a high score flags volume worth treating with caution.
Full guide - Token Health score
-
JRPG's Token Health model rates a gaming token from 0 to 100. It blends four on-chain signals (community, liquidity, project fundamentals, and market interest) into one number, refreshed daily. A higher score means stronger fundamentals across those four areas. The score reflects on-chain health, not price or investment advice.

-
Wash trading is fake volume, where the same party buys and sells a token to make it look more active or liquid than it is. JRPG's Wash Trading Detector scans on-chain activity for the tell-tale patterns and returns a 0 to 100 signal score. A higher score means more of the volume looks manufactured.
