Is MIR4 Still Worth Playing in 2026? Players, the WEMIX Hack and a New Owner
MIR4 turned five with a new class and a levelling server. Its Steam players are down 21% in a year, the WEMIX$ hack froze its crypto features and Wemade changes owners on the 30th of October.
MIR4 turned five worldwide in August 2026, and Wemade marked it with a new class and a fresh server. [1][2] The same summer, a hack shut most of the game’s crypto features for more than three weeks, and Wemade’s founder agreed to sell the company to a China-linked buyer. [3][4] Over the last 30 days, about 11,500 people were playing MIR4 on Steam at any given moment. That is 85% fewer than in its busiest month, November 2021. [5] Here is where the game stands now, and who it still makes sense for.
What MIR4 is
MIR4 is a fantasy MMORPG from the Korean company Wemade. It launched in South Korea in November 2020 [6] and worldwide in August 2021. [1] The global version adds crypto. Players mine a resource called Darksteel and can smelt it into DRACO, a token on Wemade’s WEMIX blockchain. Characters can also be sold as NFTs. [7]
It was a hit. Wemade has said MIR4 reached 1.4 million players online at once across all platforms. [8] On Steam alone, it peaked at 97,125 in November 2021. [5] By August 2026, it had 24.4 million accounts and 40.1 million characters, and players had smelted DRACO 138 million times. [1]
In the game Mir4 Global, a player character is engaged in combat with a Blade Viperbeast Assassin in a grassy, rocky landscape while nearby characters appear and health statuses are displayed.
How many people still play MIR4
MIR4 also runs on phones, but Steam is the only platform with public player numbers. In September 2026, an average of 12,023 people were playing on Steam at any moment. That is 20.9% fewer than in September 2025 and 30.4% fewer than in January 2025. [5]

The anniversary helped a little. The average rose 8.7% from July to August 2026. Even so, August 2026 averaged 17.5% fewer players than August 2025, so this year’s bump was smaller than last year’s. [5]
The longer view is starker. The October average has fallen every year, from 46,059 in 2021 to 14,255 in 2025. Over the last 30 days it was 11,561. [5]

On the 18th of August 2026, Wemade merged 50 of its global servers into 25. [9] Merges like this keep each world busy as the player count shrinks.
What’s new in MIR4 in 2026
The 5th anniversary update on the 18th of August 2026 added the Spirit Summoner. It is a ranged magic class that calls up elemental spirits with a staff or wand, and it both deals damage and buffs its party. [2][10] Existing characters cannot switch into or out of the class. [2]
The same day, Wemade opened Boosting World 4, a server season built for fast levelling. It has seven servers, three in Asia and one each in INMENA, Europe, South America and North America. It runs until maintenance on the 5th of January 2027 and then becomes a normal server. [11] Wemade’s press release promises up to 1,000% extra EXP. [10]
Inven Global reported a similar update on the 8th of October 2026. There the class is called Spirit Master, and it comes with a growth server named Deungyongmun that runs to February 2027. [12] The report does not name a region. Global players already got the class in August, so it is most likely the Korean version.
Bots are still a problem. On the 2nd of October 2026, Wemade said it had banned 17,030 accounts for using unauthorized programs. [13]
In Mir4 Global, a character named Globbitz is gathering resources in a lush outdoor environment with rocky terrain and greenery.
The July hack and what it shut down
On the 26th of July 2026, an attacker took admin control of WEMIX$, a stablecoin on Wemade’s blockchain. Wemade blamed a wrongly set access limit on the function that registers admins. [14] The attacker minted 5,225,525 WEMIX$ and swapped part of it for 30,736 WEMIX and $724,198 in USDC.e, then moved the money to Ethereum and BNB Chain. [15]
WEMIX$ was meant to hold its value at $1. It closed at $0.9878 on the 25th of July and at $0.0111 the next day, a 98.9% fall. [16]
MIR4 switched off all its blockchain features the same day. [3] Minting, sealing and unsealing character NFTs came back on the 4th of August, but NFT trading did not. Wemade said the rest would return after maintenance on the 18th of August. [17] That maintenance also ran the move of HYDRA and DRACO to a new mainnet, which had been delayed from June. Old tokens convert 1:1, one way, and DRACO’s trading pool now pairs with USDC.e instead of WEMIX$. [18]
On the 26th of August, Wemade said it would cover every loss. More than 175,000 holder addresses and 1,128 liquidity providers will get a new token, eqWEMIX$, worth about $1.14 million in all. Each eqWEMIX$ can be swapped 1:1 for USDC.e once the WEMIX$ system restarts, and the payout schedule will come later. Wemade will also buy back 500,000 WEMIX. [19]
It was WEMIX’s second hack in 18 months. In February 2025, an attacker took 8.65 million WEMIX, about $6.2 million, from its Play Bridge. [20]
Can you still earn DRACO in MIR4?
Yes. DRACO smelting was switched back on during the maintenance on the 18th of August 2026. [21] DRACO now trades in a pool against USDC.e that opened the same day. [22] On the 15th of October 2026, one DRACO was worth about $0.072, or 0.393 WEMIX. [23]
Guides written at MIR4’s launch put the unlock at level 40, the smelting fee at 1,000 Darksteel per DRACO and the cap at 100 DRACO per character per day. [7] We could not find a current version of those rules from Wemade, so check in game before you plan around them.
In the game MIR4, a large group of diverse characters in elaborate armor stands together in a courtyard within Bicheon Castle, where a quest titled ‘A Suspicious Meeting’ is displayed on the user interface.
What happened to the WEMIX token
South Korea’s five big crypto exchanges said on the 2nd of May 2025 that they would drop WEMIX, and trading there ended on the 2nd of June 2025. It was the second time Korean exchanges had delisted it. [24] Kraken listed WEMIX on the 7th of July 2026, a week after the sale of Wemade was announced. [25]
The Kraken listing did not lift it for long. WEMIX was at $0.2711 that day. Around the hack, it fell 19.2% in four days, from $0.2329 on the 25th of July to $0.1882 on the 29th. On the 14th of October 2026 it was at $0.1825, which is 99.2% below its high of $24.10 in November 2021. [26]

Past 90 days: -25.9% (vs. other gaming tokens: +15.5%)
Past year: -69.3% (vs. other gaming tokens: -67.5%)
All-time high: $24.10 on the 22nd of November 2021 (now 99.2% lower)
Over the past year, WEMIX fell about as far as other gaming tokens did. Over the past three months it kept falling while they rose. [26]
Who will own Wemade
On the 30th of June 2026, Wemade founder Park Kwan-ho agreed to sell his 39.33% stake to NeoPulse for 920 billion won. [4] NeoPulse is a Korean company owned by Hong Kong’s Shengsong Investment. Chinese game company Kingnet, which settled its Mir royalty fights with Wemade earlier in 2026, is buying 49% of Neosphere, the company that controls NeoPulse. [27]
The remaining 828 billion won is due on the 30th of October 2026, when the deal closes. The buyers say they will focus on publishing Mir games and licensing the series in China, and that Wemade’s current teams and projects will stay. [27] Neither side has said what changes for MIR4 or WEMIX.
Wemade is still losing money. In the second quarter of 2026 it posted an operating loss of 21 billion won on revenue of 108.3 billion won. Blockchain revenue rose 739% to 5.1 billion won. [28] Wemade also skipped its earnings call, the first time it has done so since it went public. [29]
The next Mir game is in doubt. In March 2026, MTN reported that work on MIR5 had stopped for a rebuild and that about 60 staff were moved or offered severance. [30] Wemade’s August outlook still listed it for the second half of 2026. [31] It has no release date.
In the game Mir4 Global, a character in red and black attire is engaged in combat with several large, menacing creatures in a colorful, forested environment.
What players say
On Steam, 65% of 14,921 reviews are positive, which Steam rates as Mixed. The last 30 days look better, at 75% of 33 reviews. [32] Negative reviews in 2026 point to bots, pay-to-win gacha and the crypto side. [33][34] Positive ones like the long grind, the free-to-play model and the chance to earn. [35][36]
Is MIR4 still worth playing in 2026?
As an MMO, yes, if you like a long auto-battle grind. MIR4 still gets real updates, with a new class in August and a levelling server that runs to January 2027, and about 12,000 people are on Steam at any moment. Boosting World 4 is the place to start, since its EXP boost lasts until January.
As a way to earn, it is a harder sell. One DRACO is worth about 7 cents. WEMIX has lost almost all of its value, its network was hacked twice in 18 months, and MIR4’s crypto features were down for weeks this summer. Wemade is also about to change owners. If earning is your reason to play, wait and see what NeoPulse does after the 30th of October.
