WEMIX Hack: Pool Claims Open, No Buyback Update Yet

WEMIX has fallen 21.3% since an exploit on the 26th of July 2026, from $0.2329 to $0.1833 on the 20th of October 2026. The wider gaming market fell 8.3% over the same days. The exploit created 5,225,525 WEMIX$, a WEMIX token meant to be worth one dollar. ^[1] On the 13th of October 2026, WEMIX PLAY opened loss claims for people who had tokens in its WEMIX$ pools when the exploit happened. It said it would pay each claim within 15 days, or later if it needed more checks. ^[2] In its payback plan of the 26th of August 2026, WEMIX said it would pay only the losses that could not be recovered, not the full amount people had put in. ^[3] People could not yet take out what was left in the pools on WEMIX PLAY. ^[2] WEMIX also planned to buy back 500,000 WEMIX. ^[3] As of the 20th of October 2026, WEMIX PLAY had not said when withdrawals would open, and WEMIX had not said whether the buyback had started.

What the token actually does

The games linked to WEMIX include MIR4, Night Crows and Legend of YMIR. In MIR4, players smelt the Darksteel they mine into DRACO, a token. They can then refine DRACO into HYDRA, a higher-value token. ^[5] Legend of YMIR pays players in G-WEMIX, which swaps one-for-one into WEMIX. ^[6] According to WEMIX, Night Crows has a token of its own, CROW, which swaps into WEMIX. ^[7]

On the 14th of October 2026, WEMIX relaunched its bug bounty with CertiK, a blockchain security firm. It pays outside researchers up to $10,000 for flaws they find in the WEMIX network and the code that governs it. ^[9]

Wemade is the company behind WEMIX. Its founder is selling his stake in Wemade to NeoPulse. On the 14th of October 2026, Wemade moved the close of that sale from the 30th of October to the 30th of December 2026. ^[4]

On the 21st of September 2026, WEMIX sent eqWEMIX$ to the wallets that held WEMIX$ just before the exploit. Each eqWEMIX$ swaps for one USDC.e, a WEMIX version of the USDC dollar token. ^[10] From the 13th of October 2026, holders could ask for the swap on a WEMIX website. WEMIX said a swap cannot be cancelled, and that it would never ask anyone for a private key. ^[11]
