WEMIX$ Exploit Mints 5.22 Million Tokens As MIR4 Waits 23 Days To Get DRACO And HYDRA Back

On the 26th of July 2026, an attacker took control of the contract behind WEMIX$, the WEMIX network’s stablecoin, The Elec reported. The attacker minted 5,225,525 WEMIX$ and turned them into 30,736 WEMIX and 724,198.27 USDC.e. WEMIX shut every bridge, paused trading on its exchange and NFT marketplace, and suspended blockchain features in some of its games, MIR4 among them. [1] [2] WEMIX fell 16.4% from the close of the 25th of July 2026 to the close of the 28th of September 2026, from $0.2329 to $0.1948. The wider gaming market, the Gaming Token Index – Composite, fell 4.4% over the same days.

What the token actually does

WEMIX is the token of the WEMIX3.0 chain, and the games linked to it include MIR4, Night Crows and Legend of YMIR. In MIR4, players mine Darksteel and convert it into DRACO and HYDRA, the game’s two tokens. Legend of YMIR pays players in G-WEMIX, which swaps one-for-one into WEMIX. Its characters are NFTs traded on the WEMIX PLAY marketplace. According to WEMIX, Night Crows has a token of its own, CROW, which swaps into WEMIX and USDC.e. ^[6]

The Elec reported on the 27th of July 2026 that the incident was “Wemix’s second major security breach in about 17 months.” ^[1] The first was the Play Bridge Vault hack of February 2025, which Web3 is Going Great put at $6.2 million. ^[7]

Approximately 8.65 million WEMIX coins were stolen in that attack, and the company’s delayed disclosure subsequently drew criticism over the timing of its public announcement. ^[1]

About the game

Players reviewing Legend of YMIR say it looks good and has a strong story, but that auto-play leaves the combat hollow. Many report long queues, crashes and failed logins, and some call it a pay-to-win grind full of bots.

I’ve tried every mmorpg here, MIR4 is the only one I return. … I wish I could say same thing about their Night Crows and Legend of Ymir where the UI, animation and the gameplay loop feels like from 20 years ago, just slapping UE5 engine over it. ^[8]

Even if you wanted to play it the Steam version has more limits on how to obtain gWemix than the Global version and you’re gonna kinda need that to do many important things in the game. ^[9]

“We are continuing our investigation,” a Wemade spokesperson said on the 27th of July 2026. “Any additional findings will be disclosed through official announcements.” ^[1] On the 5th of August 2026, WEMIX said Night Crows would get its token and NFT features back, along with CROW trading. ^[6] MIR4 waited until the 18th of August 2026. That day, WEMIX PLAY said DRACO and HYDRA had moved to the new chain, and every blockchain feature was back except Character NFTs. ^[10] The same day, MIR4’s fifth-anniversary update merged servers and added a new class. ^{[11] [12]}

For holders, moving old DRACO and HYDRA to the new chain was one-way and took about a day. ^[10] On the 31st of August 2026, WEMIX warned of fake WEMIX tokens on BNB Smart Chain. It told holders to check the contract address, not just the ticker. ^[13] Players who had tokens in the old trading pools could not yet get them out. WEMIX PLAY’s Korean notice said recovery was paused while it reviewed those cases. ^[10]
