GTA VI’s DacityCoin Is a Joke, but a Solana Copy Hit $16 Million

GTA VI's launch trailer shows a made-up crypto called DacityCoin. A Solana memecoin with the same name jumped from $104,000 to over $16 million, and Rockstar has nothing to do with it.

Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on the 15th of October 2026, and by the morning of the 22nd it had more than 60 million views on YouTube. [1] The game comes out on the 19th of November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. [2] For about two seconds, the trailer shows a pink biplane over a Vice City beach with “DacityCoin” painted on its side. [1] DacityCoin is a made-up cryptocurrency inside the game. A real memecoin with the same name was already trading on Solana, and its market cap went from about $104,000 to $3.18 million after the trailer went up. [3] It climbed again the following week, and on the 22nd of October 2026 it was worth about $11.7 million. [4] Rockstar did not make the token, and it has said nothing about it. [3]

We believe in rare goods, we believe in collectibles. The concern we have is that there’s speculation going on. [5]

Where DacityCoin shows up in the trailer

Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer. The DacityCoin plane appears at about 0:54 (Rockstar Games, the 15th of October 2026)

The shot runs from about 0:54 to 0:56. A wing-walker crouches on the top wing, holding a flare that trails pink smoke. “DacityCoin” is written in pink on a dark band along the plane’s body, with the smaller word “AudaCity” under it. The name is only easy to read in the last moment, as the plane turns side-on to the camera. [1] The name was not new. On the 11th of October 2026, leaked footage from the game showed it, and a fan account posted that “there’s a meme coin in GTA 6 called ‘Dacity Coin'”. [6] The GTA Wiki’s account on X later described DacityCoin as “a crypto coin in GTA 6 that gets promoted through publicity stunts.” [7] A plane trailing pink smoke over a crowded beach looks like one of those stunts. Rockstar has not said anything about the coin in its game.

What the token actually does

Nothing in Grand Theft Auto VI uses the Solana token. DacityCoin in the game is fiction, like the game’s made-up banks and brands, and Rockstar has given no sign that the game connects to any blockchain. The Solana token was launched on pump.fun, a site where anyone can create a token in seconds. [3] It has no team, no project website and no plans. Its only links are a trading page and the fan post about the leak. [4] Rockstar did not respond to Decrypt’s request for comment. [3] Rockstar and its owner, Take-Two, have kept crypto away from GTA before. In 2022, Rockstar told the people who run fan role-play servers for GTA V that they could not add cryptocurrencies or NFTs. [8] The same year, Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick said NFTs might fit the company’s games one day, but that it would stay away from speculation. [5] The token’s price has no connection to anything Rockstar has made or promised.

Performance and holder count

Performance

The token was created on the 11th of October 2026, the day the leak spread. Its first trading pool opened at 11:16:59 UTC, exactly one minute after the fan post naming the coin. [6] [4] It reached about $1.24 million on its first day, then sank to about $108,000 by the 14th of October 2026. The trailer sent it back up, and a second run from the 18th of October 2026 took it much higher, with no new announcement behind it. [4]

  • It closed the 14th of October 2026 at a market cap of $107,877. On the 15th, the day of the trailer, its main pool reached $2.89 million. [4]
  • CoinGecko puts its all-time high at $0.01667 per token, at 15:09 UTC on the 21st of October 2026. That is a market cap of about $16.4 million. [9]
  • At about 11:00 UTC on the 22nd of October 2026, it traded at $0.0119, a market cap of about $11.7 million. That is around 29% below its high. [4]

Holder count

  • GeckoTerminal counted 17,450 holders on the 22nd of October 2026. The 10 largest held 19.6% of the supply. [4]
  • Its main pool held about $444,000 in liquidity, the money available for buyers and sellers to trade against. [4]

More on the story

The token’s main pool does not trade against SOL or US dollars. It trades against TTWO, a token that tracks the share price of Take-Two Interactive and is issued by Backpack Securities. Pump.fun added TTWO as a pairing option through its Custom Pairs feature, launched on the 9th of September 2026, and trading fees on the pair are paid in TTWO. [10] That pairing does not mean Take-Two backs the coin. It only means traders swap Dacity Coin for a token that follows Take-Two’s stock price.

The launch looks automated. An on-chain trader who posts as stitchdegen traced the deployer wallet to an automated deployment bot with at least two earlier launches. They also found heavy “bundle” and “sniper” buying at launch, where a small group of wallets buys most of the early supply in the first seconds. By the 20th of October 2026, they estimated, about 66% of the bundled supply and about 78% of the sniped supply had already been sold. They found 21 wallets that had traded tokens flagged as rugs, holding about 3.7% of the supply, and said they would not call the setup “completely clean”. [11] That is one trader’s analysis, not an audit.

Dacity Coin is not the only token with the name. Copies appeared on several chains within days. The largest, on Ethereum, was created on the 19th of October 2026 and was worth about $7.8 million on the 22nd. [12] A copy on Robinhood Chain traded $2.15 million in its first days. [10] They are separate tokens, and none of them is linked to Rockstar.

GTA memecoins have gone this way before. In August 2026, the hacker behind a wave of GTA VI leaks used the footage to push a Solana token named after their handle, Cyberleek. It peaked at about $25 million on the 23rd of August, and its creator cashed out about $270,000. [13] In January 2025, tokens called GTA 6 Coin and GTA Guy passed $1 million in market cap within a day. Both then fell more than 90%, to $69,000 and $12,000. [14]

Risk warning

Dacity Coin is a memecoin. It has no product, no named team and no plans, and it has no link to Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. [3] [4] In under two weeks its market cap has swung from about $1.24 million down to about $108,000 and up to more than $16 million. [4] [9] Earlier GTA-themed memecoins lost more than 90% of their value. [14] The wallets that bought first at launch have sold most of what they bought, and the 10 largest holders hold about 19.6% of the supply. [11] [4] Separate tokens on other chains use the same name. [12] Buying a memecoin like this is closer to gambling than to investing, and buyers can lose everything they put in. JRPG.com does not recommend buying, selling or holding Dacity Coin, or any token that uses the name of GTA VI.
