Off The Grid 1.0 Release Date: Gunzilla’s October Launch Still Has No Day

Gunzilla set Off The Grid's full release for October 2026, but the second anniversary passed with no launch and no date. Here is what 1.0 promises, what shipped this year and how the GUN token has done.

Gunzilla Games said Off The Grid would get its full release in October 2026. [1] With eight days left in the month, there is still no launch date, no 1.0 trailer and no delay notice. The extraction shooter is still in early access on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. [2] Here is what Gunzilla has promised for 1.0, what it has shipped this year, and how the game and its GUN token are doing.

When is the Off The Grid 1.0 release date?

Gunzilla has not given a day. Its 2026 roadmap, published on the 29th of May, says Off The Grid “is planned to fully launch during the game’s second anniversary window.” [3] The platforms are PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Epic Games Store and Steam, plus GeForce NOW. The game stays free to play. [3] [4]

Early access opened on the 8th of October 2024, so the anniversary itself passed two weeks ago without a launch. [1] Steam followed on the 17th of July 2025. [5] The newest post on the game’s Steam page, from the 21st of October 2026, is about anti-cheat and does not mention 1.0. [6]

Much of the coverage of the October target traces back to one article, “Off The Grid Targets October Full Release,” on Game Informer. It is a sponsored post with a “by Gunzilla Games” byline. [1] Gunzilla has owned Game Informer since March 2025. [7]

What 1.0 is supposed to add

The roadmap lists three things for the October “OTG 1.0” phase. The map grows with “new playable territories, fresh biomes,” added to the current map rather than replacing it. Ranked play gets a reset with recalibrated matchmaking, and Season 3 opens on the new system. The third item is a marketing push with creators. [8]

The story campaign is not on that list. When Gunzilla announced the game in May 2022, it named Altered Carbon author Richard K. Morgan as its script writer. [9] Gunzilla’s Chief Visionary Officer, District 9 director Neill Blomkamp, said at the time that the game was battle royale first, with the story in a supporting role. [10] Off The Grid’s Steam page still promises “an ambitious 60-hour narrative campaign coming later this year.” [4]

What shipped in 2026

Cheating has been one of the loudest complaints since the Steam launch, and early Steam reviews also claimed that many opponents were bots. [12] Gunzilla’s own anti-cheat, Kestrel, ran its first ban wave this month. Gunzilla says it checked more than 15 billion pieces of gameplay data, and that 55% of the bans were for macros and recoil scripts. [6]

How many people play Off The Grid

On Steam, the player count has stayed in a narrow range for 15 months. The monthly average has stayed between 6,662 and 8,280 players online at any moment since the Steam launch. The all-time peak, 15,247, came in March 2026. Over the last 30 days, the average was 7,552. [13]

Steam is one of five ways to play, so these numbers leave out Epic, PlayStation, Xbox and GeForce NOW players. Gunzilla’s own figures are bigger. In June 2026 it reported 437,000 GUNZ wallets, 23,000 wallets active each day, about 4,000 new users a day and more than 150,000 OTG Pro subscribers. [14] In April, CEO Vlad Korolev said about 3,000 new players joined each day. He declined to publish more statistics except through a dashboard that costs 100,000 GUN to access. [15] None of these figures have been checked by anyone outside the company.

Steam reviews are Mixed. 61% of 1,544 reviews are positive, and 59% of the 66 written in the last 30 days. [4]

How the GUN token fits in

Off The Grid runs on GUNZ, Gunzilla’s own blockchain, built on Avalanche. Players loot items called HEXes and can turn them into NFTs they can trade. That costs a fee in GUN, which goes to holders of 10,000 Validator NFTs. GUN also pays for items, subscriptions, battle passes and network fees. Players do not have to use any of this to play. [16]

Not every player is on the live blockchain yet. In September 2025, Gunzilla started moving EU PC players over, while PS5 and Xbox players stayed on a test network until Sony and Microsoft approved the move. [17] The 2026 roadmap promised to move every remaining test-network user in September 2026. [8] Gunzilla has not said whether that happened.

GUN launched on the 31st of March 2025 on Binance, Bybit, OKX and KuCoin. [16] [18] It closed its first day at $0.0776, and CoinGecko lists its all-time high as $0.115. It jumped 224% in January 2026, from $0.0111 on New Year’s Day to $0.0360 on the 22nd of January, then fell again. On the 22nd of October 2026 it closed at $0.002147, its lowest close on record and 98.1% below its high. [19]

GUN is down 70.6% since the roadmap that promised an October release was published, and 22.1% since the second anniversary on the 8th of October. [19] Token tracker Tokenomist lists the next scheduled release of locked GUN on the 31st of October 2026, about 271 million tokens. [20]

Gunzilla’s troubles behind the scenes

Gunzilla laid off staff twice in 2025. [21] Former employees say pay problems began in June 2025, with some owed four to six months of salary, and they estimate more than half of the team has left. [22] In April 2026, more employees went public, naming Korolev and finance chief Taras Basarab. [23] Korolev answered that full-time salaries had “never been delayed by more than a week” and called the critics haters. [24] we covered those claims in April.

This month, the GUNZ Discord server was taken over by attackers. Gunzilla got it back and told members not to click links posted there for now. [25]

Risk warning

GUN has fallen 98.1% from its all-time high and 88.9% in the past year, against 63.0% for other gaming tokens over the same period. [19] Off The Grid’s Steam average has stayed between 6,662 and 8,280 players for 15 months. [13] Gunzilla has faced public claims of unpaid salaries in 2025 and 2026, and its player figures outside Steam have not been checked independently.
