Top Stories
Axie Classic Champions Invitational
The last competitive event Axie Classic will run under Sky Mavis went live on September 27.
Eight players from Seasons 13 through 16 faced off in a double-elimination bracket for 5,000 bAXS, with the winner taking 2,100 bAXS and competitors receiving shares down to 100 bAXS for the seventh and eighth places. The field comprised Anzooo, Mitsuya, Eshaz, JL, Pau, Nerraw, Chan, and Mark, who qualified through Season Championships and Arena Leaderboards across those four seasons. Each player submitted 10 Axies before the tournament and banned three of their opponent’s before every match; best-of-5 governed all rounds until the Grand Finals, which ran best-of-7 with a 1-0 starting advantage for the Upper Bracket finalist. Artifacts were permitted, and bAXS (Bonded AXS) is a non-transferable token bonded to the earning account, backed 1:1 by AXS and redeemable at a 1:1 rate for Axie Core features.
After this Invitational, Axie Classic moves to community control under CORC, the new committee within Axie Governance that already holds authority over game design, balance, releases, and development priorities, pending the close of the legal handoff. Axie Infinity: Origins remains with Sky Mavis; only the Classic title is transferring.
Anichess Masters League
Anichess launched a carried-title league for its top spell-chess players on September 23.
The Masters League is a round-robin, best-of-five format for eight players, carrying a 100,000 CHECK prize and a title that persists across seasons without expiring at the end of a single event. The top four from the inaugural field retain their seats while four new players earn entry each season. The original eight were drawn from the Road to Magnus Cup and the two most recent playoffs.
The four-in, four-out rotation means the league’s membership reshuffles partially every season while the top tier keeps its standing, a structural distinction from the single-season prize events in the rest of Anichess’ competitive ladder.
Anichess Streamer Season
Anichess kicked off a four-week Twitch streaming competition on September 24.
Eight streamers take on weekly spell-casting challenges on stream every Sunday, with a 200,000 CHECK prize pool spread across the season. Top performers advance to Seasonal Playoffs, adding a second competitive pathway alongside the standard qualifier route.
The season culminates in a Super Grand Final on October 25.
Axie Vibeathon
Axie’s Vibeathon submission window closed on September 21 after two weeks of building.
The team extended the judging period by one week due to the volume of entries, pushing the Top 8 finalist announcement to October 6. Successful Round 1 games will go live on the Axie Games Hub.
What to watch
The Axie Vibeathon’s Top 8 finalist announcement is set for October 6, a date reflecting the one-week judging extension prompted by the volume of entries. The Anichess streamer season’s Super Grand Final follows on 25 Oct, closing out the four-week Twitch competition.

Wash Trading Watch
Scored 0-100Wash trading is fake volume: the same trader on both sides of a deal, making a token look busier than it is. We score every gaming token 0-100 on how strongly its market data shows that pattern. A high score is a flag for further scrutiny, never proof of wrongdoing. More on wash trading
gaming tokens flagged this week for elevated wash-trading risk, with 5 at the maximum severe tier.
Flags fire on volume spikes, price/volume divergence, peer anomalies and volume-to-holder ratios. Scores are advisory, not accusations. Read the methodology

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the JRPG Gaming Index?
The JRPG Gaming Index (GTI-20) is a proprietary, market-cap-weighted benchmark of the top 20 crypto and web3 gaming tokens by market cap, drawn from a broader universe of 482 tokens we track across the sector, an S&P 500 for blockchain gaming. For this report week it closed at 13.14, up 13.08% week-over-week.
How is wash trading detected?
We score each gaming token from 0 to 100 on wash-trading risk, using on-chain and market-microstructure signals: abnormal volume spikes, price/volume divergence, and volume-to-holder ratios. Each token lands in one of four buckets: minimal, some, many, or severe. This week we flagged 13 tokens. The scores are advisory, not accusations of fraud.
How is funding tracked?
JRPG captures the full spectrum of capital entering crypto gaming (venture rounds, grants, airdrops, and tournament prizes), from venture rounds down to the smallest community pools: no minimum threshold, not just headline VC deals. Each event is verified, valued in USD, and given a confidence rating. This week logged $10,518.57 across 10 events.
