Top Stories

Anichess Masters League

Anichess introduced a league structure to its competitive chess scene. The studio launched its inaugural Masters League, an eight-player round robin of best-of-five matches with a prize pool of 100,000 CHECK tokens. The format mirrors grandmaster circuits: top four finishers retain seats for the next season, while four open slots come from Seasonal Playoffs. The initial roster drew from the Road to Magnus Cup and recent playoff results. The season is live, with the round robin bracket set and Seasonal Playoffs open for the remaining seats.

YGG sunsets YGG Play and exits Abstract Chain

Yield Guild Games is shrinking its multi-chain footprint. YGG confirmed the sunset of YGG Play and will remove the YGG/ETH liquidity pair on Abstract Chain on October 9. Holders should swap or bridge tokens via the Abstract Native Bridge before that date. YGG on Ethereum and other networks remains unaffected. The October 9 removal defines the window for migration.

Tycoons Pass wires tokenized stocks into a gaming reward ladder

Tycoons Pass, associated with Uncharted Tycoons, launched on Base on October 1. Players earn Pass Points through trade voyages and pirate battles to climb a 30-tier structure. Rewards include Coinbase Tokenized Stocks where available, Gems, and the October-exclusive Rialto Galleon. The pass is live, with the Rialto Galleon as the capstone reward.

COLLECT token hit by LP-vamping vulnerability

A DeFi routing mechanic in the COLLECT token’s liquidity setup harmed holders. The token, which supports a card vault, dropped in price after an LP-vamping issue emerged. The vulnerability allowed third parties to add liquidity, lower fees, and route volume away from the creator’s pool to bypass fees. The team confirmed the card vault remains intact and stated the issue is fixable. The episode exposed how LP routing can be exploited against a gaming token’s fee structure.

What to watch

YGG’s removal of the YGG/ETH liquidity pair on Abstract Chain is set for October 9.

Wash Trading Watch

Scored 0-100

Wash trading is fake volume: the same trader on both sides of a deal, making a token look busier than it is. We score every gaming token 0-100 on how strongly its market data shows that pattern. A high score is a flag for further scrutiny, never proof of wrongdoing. More on wash trading

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the JRPG Gaming Index?

The JRPG Gaming Index (GTI-20) is a proprietary, market-cap-weighted benchmark of the top 20 crypto and web3 gaming tokens by market cap, drawn from a broader universe of 475 tokens we track across the sector, an S&P 500 for blockchain gaming. For this report week it closed at 14.61, up 11.18% week-over-week.

How is wash trading detected?

We score each gaming token from 0 to 100 on wash-trading risk, using on-chain and market-microstructure signals: abnormal volume spikes, price/volume divergence, and volume-to-holder ratios. Each token lands in one of four buckets: minimal, some, many, or severe. This week we flagged 17 tokens. The scores are advisory, not accusations of fraud.

How is funding tracked?

JRPG captures the full spectrum of capital entering crypto gaming (venture rounds, grants, airdrops, and tournament prizes), from venture rounds down to the smallest community pools: no minimum threshold, not just headline VC deals. Each event is verified, valued in USD, and given a confidence rating. This week logged $49,109.91 across 15 events.

Can I cite or republish this report?

Yes. The JRPG Crypto Games Report is free to cite and republish with attribution to the "JRPG Crypto Games Report" and a link back to the original report URL. A ready-to-paste citation is provided in the Methodology & Cite section.
