The Axie Vibeathon finalists are in. On October 7, 2026, Axie Infinity revealed its Axie Vibeathon top 8, the eight community-built games that advance to Round 2 of the AI-powered game jam [1]. The news caps a busy 2026 for Axie Infinity, which earlier ran an Atia’s Legacy playtest with fresh mechanics, bosses, and a dungeon mode. Axie Infinity also switched Axie Classic rewards from AXS to bAXS on April 7, 2026 [2][3].

Axie Infinity Art Direction

Axie Infinity’s art showcases a side-view, saturated cel-shaded cartoon aesthetic. The simple rounded silhouettes and minimalist cartoon faces evoke a playful vibe reminiscent of The Battle Cats. A creature sporting a fish-head helmet and another with a flower sprouting from its head exemplify this creativity. Overall, the art direction feels energetic and fun, reflecting a confident approach to its visual style.

Mixed Player Sentiment

Many players express excitement over the game’s design, calling Axie Infinity a fun, addictive time-sink that keeps them engaged [4]. However, a balanced perspective reveals that not every aspect of the game aligns with the overall positive reception. While the art, design, and narrative are praised, some users note frustrations with gameplay, claiming enemies grow stronger yet Axies do not [4]. Players have voiced concerns that passing Adventure map one feels impossible, as matchmaking often pits them against considerably stronger Axies, leading to an impression of unfairness [4]. Nevertheless, others find the gameplay uninspiring, suggesting a divided community opinion [4].

Our shill detection has flagged several 5-star reviews that rely on generic enthusiasm and marketing jargon rather than substantial gameplay feedback, particularly from early 2023 [5].

On October 9, each finalist gets 250 USDC for AI tools, and the full Round 2 brief goes out the same day. The finalists share a 20,000 bAXS prize pool. Axie’s Discord has threads set up to collect player feedback for each builder, and Axie is telling creators to ship early, watch where players get stuck, and fix what they find.

The Vibeathon finalists have a big crowd to test with. Axie Infinity has over 100K Google Play installs and a Discord community of 638,070 members, even after losing about 2,445 members over the past month.

Axie Infinity Breeding And Sky Mavis

A 2021 research report outlines Axie Infinity breeding, explaining that any two existing Axies can produce a new Axie. Each Axie features one of 9 classes and 6 body parts, plus a body shape. Each body part contains a dominant, recessive, and minor recessive gene.

A 2022 Rest of World report covers Axie and Sky Mavis, indicating that players would hold ownership of their Axie characters and any future assets acquired within the game. It notes that Sky Mavis launched the first version of the game that October, enabling players to battle with their Axies, eventually evolving into a more sophisticated card-battle system.
