Axie Infinity Price and Wallet Bugs Hit Season 19 Launch

Sky Mavis has kicked off Season 19 of Axie Infinity: Origins with the Rare Era, putting over 80,000 bAXS up for grabs ^[1]. According to the official Season 19 announcement, the top 2,000 players will split that prize pool, and a separate 10,000 bAXS pool of Collectible Chest rewards returns for collectible Axie holders ^[2]. Classic rewards have also paid out in bAXS since April 7, so both game modes now run on the same token ^[3].

Axie Origins Season 19 Schedule and Rewards

Season 19 runs in four eras, two weeks each, and keeps the Elite 4 format from Season 18 ^[2]:

• September 30: Rare Era
• October 14: Epic Era
• October 28: Mystic Era
• November 11: Final Era
• November 25: Season 19 ends

The Rare Era alone carries 20,000 bAXS in rewards. bAXS is a non-transferable token backed 1:1 by AXS that you can spend on breeding, ascending, evolving and staking. Cashing it out to AXS costs a Treasury fee, and players with a higher Axie Score pay less. Sky Mavis also holds each era’s rewards until its competitive integrity checks finish, and multi-accounting or leaderboard manipulation gets a permanent Origins ban ^[2].

Axie Infinity Gameplay and Security Breach

A 2021 research report describes Axie Infinity as a platform where any two existing Axies can be bred to create a new Axie. Each Axie represents one of 9 classes and comprises 6 body parts, each with three genes. At the time, the game ran largely on a scholarship model and had more than 2 million daily active users.

Rest of World reported on the March 2022 Ronin bridge hack, where attackers took over four validators run by Sky Mavis and a fifth run by the Axie DAO. That gave them the five of nine signatures they needed to drain roughly $600 million.
