Is Brave Frontier Still Playable? Brave Frontier Heroes Survived Its Shutdown

Brave Frontier Versus closed on the 22nd of June 2026, about eight months after it launched. ^[1] Versus was not the first Brave Frontier game to face the end. Brave Frontier Heroes, a blockchain spin-off, was meant to close in October 2025. Its players paid $50,000 to keep it alive, and it still runs today. Alim’s new Brave Frontier Origin is not due until 2027. ^[2]

What Brave Frontier Heroes is

Brave Frontier Heroes launched on the 30th of January 2020. It brings Brave Frontier’s characters and pixel art into a crypto game. ^[3] You build units, equip them with spheres and fight in raids, Rank Matches and a weekly Title Match. ^{[4] [5]} It runs in a browser and on iOS and Android. ^[6]

The characters and equipment are NFTs. ^[5] Players can trade and sell them to each other. ^[3] The game also has a token, BPC, which is the currency of its in-game market. ^[5]

How players saved it

On the 1st of October 2025, double jump.tokyo said it would end the game on the 31st of October. It had looked for ways to keep it going, such as cutting development costs. ^[7] The company had lost ¥1.887 billion in the year to June 2025, and it was leaving blockchain games. ^[8]

The same day, the game’s producer, Vanilla, posted a plan to save it. The team did not want the game to end. Vanilla asked players for $50,000, about ¥7.5 million, to set up a new company and run the game on its own. If the goal was missed, everyone would get their money back and the game would close. ^[9]

The crowdfund opened on the 6th of October 2025. ^[10] Supporters paid in USDC, a token tied to the US dollar. Rewards ran from in-game items up to, at the top tiers, the right to name a tournament or a Memoria part. The six biggest backers are listed at the top of an in-game supporters page. ^[11] Supporters reached the goal on the night of the 16th of October 2025. ^[12] The next day, the official account said the game would continue. ^[13]

The matches kept running

The 295th Title Match ran from the 31st of October to the 2nd of November 2025, the weekend the game was meant to close. ^[14] The 300th ran in early December. ^[15] A new company, VNL Works, now runs the game. ^[16]

In 2026 the game faced a hard deadline. The game’s tokens and NFTs sat on HOME Verse, a blockchain that double jump.tokyo ran. It moved to the main Oasys chain on the 22nd and 23rd of June 2026, and HOME Verse shut down on the 30th. Players had to move their NFTs and BPC by the 19th of June 2026. The notice warned that “after this deadline, assets will no longer be transferable from HOME Verse.” ^[17] There is no information on what happened to assets that were not moved in time.

The token, then and now

BPC started out on a big exchange. MEXC listed it in March 2023, ^[18] and price tracker Bitget puts its highest price above $0.08888 that August. ^[19] The token left MEXC in February 2025. Since then, it has traded in small pools on Oasys. ^[20]

In mid-April 2025, BPC traded at $0.003887. By late September 2025, before any news of a shutdown, it had already fallen 77.1% to $0.000889. On the day of the shutdown notice, it closed at $0.000601, another 32.5% lower. ^[21]

Then it doubled. When the crowdfund closed on the 19th of October 2025, BPC was at $0.001203, up 100.3% from the day of the shutdown notice. The rise did not last. On the 13th of October 2026, BPC closed at $0.000298. That is 75.2% below its price when the crowdfund closed, and 92.3% below where it stood in April 2025. ^[21] The wider gaming market fell too, but by less. It dropped 70.5% between the 17th of April 2025 and the 13th of October 2026.

Very little BPC changes hands. On half of all trading days since April 2025, less than $65.13 of it was traded across all its pools. ^[21]

Is Brave Frontier still playable?

The October 2026 schedule runs Title Matches 343 to 347, up to the 1st of November. It also has a raid from the 8th to the 18th of October and new Memoria parts from the 15th of October. ^[4] A year after it was meant to close, Brave Frontier Heroes still holds a Title Match every week.
