YGG Token Exits Abstract on October 9, Before the Chain Closes

Yield Guild Games (YGG) said on X on the 29th of September 2026 that it would remove its YGG/ETH pool on Abstract. It set the date as the 9th of October 2026. That pool is where people on Abstract swap the YGG token for ETH. YGG told holders on Abstract to swap their YGG or move it off with the Abstract Native Bridge. It said YGG on Ethereum and other networks was not affected. ^[1] On the 6th of October 2026, Abstract said the whole chain would shut down on the 15th of December 2026. It said funds not moved off by then would be lost. Abstract warned users about fake migration sites and DMs pretending to be Abstract, and told them to use only its official links. ^[2] YGG fell 3.2% from the close of the 29th of September 2026 to the close of the 7th of October 2026, from $0.02620 to $0.02535. The wider gaming market rose 4.2% over the same days.

What the token actually does

YGG is the token of Yield Guild Games. In its 2021 white paper, the group called itself a DAO, a group run by votes from its token holders. It bought NFTs, the game items players own, for games such as Axie Infinity and The Sandbox. It rented those items to players for a share of what they earned. Holders could stake YGG, which means locking it up, to earn rewards, vote or get exclusive content. The paper warned that the token could become worthless. ^[5] YGG’s August 2026 paper, YGG 3.0, describes new plans. Holders may be able to stake or hold YGG to unlock more features. People who do tasks for its guilds may be paid in YGG. The paper says these features may be changed, delayed or never built. ^[3]

In the three months to the 7th of October 2026, the YGG token rose 19.8%. The wider gaming market rose 7.6% over the same window.

• Over the day to the 7th of October 2026 the token fell 9.0%. The wider gaming market fell 2.8%.
• It ranked 37th of the 324 gaming tokens that fell over the day. The closest move to it was LRDS, down 9.0%.
• It trades 99.8% below its all-time high, set in November 2021. The wider gaming market sits 94% below its own.

YGG said on its blog on the 6th of July 2026 that it was closing YGG Play, its game publishing arm. It said the unit could not be commercially sustainable. It said it would put its resources into the AI data economy and that 35 people would lose their jobs. ^[6] Co-founder Gabby Dizon told BitPinas the next day that YGG was not leaving web3 and that the YGG token would continue. ^[7] YGG Play’s own game, LOL Land, shut down on the 31st of July 2026, its website says. ^[9] In its August 2026 paper, YGG said it had bought back 24.1 million YGG, about 3.84% of the tokens in circulation. It said the first purchase, on the 31st of July 2025, was made on Abstract, where those tokens were still held. It said the bought tokens were “not presently intended for sale”. ^[3] There is no information yet on whether YGG has moved the tokens it holds on Abstract. Abstract said a chain built only for consumer crypto had proven unsustainable on its own.
