Axie Infinity's lore says Aquatic Axies don't live underwater. Their homes are partly submerged houseboats.
On October 19, 2026, the official @AxieInfinity account published “Axie Tribes: Aquatic,” a lore post stating that Aquatic axies do not necessarily live underwater [1]. According to the post, they instead live in partially submerged houseboats near rivers, lakes, or oceans. They excel at hunting and sport, known for being fiercely competitive. The post also describes them as among Lunacia’s most combative warriors, often rallying other underwater creatures against the chimera, a rival monster race. Additionally, they collect valuable shipwreck objects for trade. Late in March, the account mentioned ongoing development for a new Axie game [2], along with a date for Playtest 2 of Atia’s Legacy, which transitions combat to focusing on a single Axie [3].
By contrast, this entry contains no gameplay details and focuses solely on the lifestyle and habitats of the Aquatic axies.

Now shifting focus to the visuals of the new Axie game, the art features 3D character models that offer a playful, cartoony aesthetic. The round-bodied creatures with oversized faces stand out, complemented by the backdrop of ancient ruins under a sunny sky. This game evokes feelings similar to the vibrant charm of Slime Rancher, with its colorful creatures and lively worlds. The character designs captivate, and the overall art direction provides an enjoyable visual experience from beginning to end.

After appreciating the striking character designs and vibrant art, it’s crucial to discuss player sentiments. Many fans still find the game super fun and addictive, praising its strategic battles and thoughtfully designed characters that keep them engaged [4]. However, several players express frustration over persistent bugs that disrupt matches, card interactions, and overall progress, often leaving them hanging on loading screens [4]. Opinions regarding the play-to-earn mechanics are divided; some claim the game is struggling, while others criticize matchmaking against stronger opponents [4].
In analyzing reviews, we found that most feedback consists of genuine bug reports and grievances. Notably, there is a small cluster of brief, overly positive reviews that seem suspicious. Two reviews were posted on the same day, with one using a hashtag and another echoing marketing copy. Video comments were also examined, with all three appearing genuine. Two comments provided generalized praise, posted weeks apart, free of links or promotional content, while one was a request for a specific tutorial [5].

Having explored player feedback, we now turn to the token’s performance. AXS, the token for Axie Infinity, recently experienced a sluggish climb and continues to lag behind other gaming tokens. It resembles a slowpoke in a race where competitors are sprinting ahead. Throughout the announcement period, its price failed to gain momentum.

Now, let’s dive into the news itself. Not every Aquatic axie is a great swimmer or made for underwater living, and the game attributes this to the randomness of body parts. In response, the tribe has opted for floating wooden homes that are partially submerged. Pretty clever, right?
The accompanying image showcases a round, blue cartoon creature in a wooden boat, surrounded by lily pads. The text at the bottom reads “AXIE TRIBES AQUATIC,” ensuring it’s clear who’s lounging in that boat. One commenter hit the nail on the head: “half-submerged houseboats for a tribe whose members swim differently is a neat detail.” x.com[6] Honestly, I can vibe with that.
Additionally, some of these shiny treasures are used as decoration in their homes. The Aquatic axies reportedly adorn their houses with unique finds from the sea floor.[7] Their dwellings could almost be categorized as floating museums.
The treasures collected in these floating homes are a part of Axie Infinity’s lore, and the game maintains a sizable audience. Its YouTube channel has seen a boost of 27,287 views over the past month, totaling 4,999,980, while its Discord community has decreased by 2,411 members during the same period, bringing the total to 637,194 members.
A 2021 research report describes Axie Infinity as a game where players can breed any two Axies to create a new one. Each Axie belongs to one of 9 different classes and features 6 body parts along with unique body shapes. The report also notes new players can participate only when there are 3x more Axies available than players.
A 2022 Rest of World report reveals that the success of Axie Infinity surprised its founders. It notes players own their Axie characters and earned assets, share in the game’s success, and help promote it. Sky Mavis initially released a version for Axie owners to compete against each other, which later evolved into a card-battle system.
