Axie Infinity Co-Founder Jihoz Invites Games to Ronin After Abstract Announces Chain Shutdown

On the 7th of October 2026, Jihoz invited games looking for a new chain to come to Ronin. Jihoz is a co-founder of Sky Mavis, the studio behind Axie Infinity and Ronin. ^[3] His post on X came a day after Abstract said its own chain would shut down on the 15th of December 2026. Abstract said any funds not bridged off the chain by then could no longer be reached. ^[2] Jihoz warned that a game would still need to bring its own players. ^[3] On the 12th of October 2026, he wrote that three chains had tried onchain gaming. “One shut down. One pivoted to AI,” he wrote, without naming them. “One is still here.” ^[1] Between the 5th and the 11th of October 2026, RON rose 4.7%, from $0.06723 to $0.07038, while the wider gaming market fell 4.3%.

More on the story

Ronin pays the teams that build on it in RON. It calls this system proof of distribution. Jihoz said the payments go out every month, based on how much each team brings to the chain. ^[3] By the end of the system’s fifth season, Ronin expects to have paid out more than 2 million RON. ^[8]

Since the 10th of September 2026, Ronin has paid more to teams whose players buy more RON than they sell, and less to teams whose players mostly sell it. ^[9]

RON holders are also getting their first vote. Called RGP-1, it asks whether Ronin should use about $100,000 from its treasury to make RON easier to trade on Katana, Ronin’s exchange. Each RON counts as one vote, and the plan needs 66% to pass. ^[9] As of the 8th of October 2026, Ronin said the vote would start in October 2026, but there is no information yet on an exact date. ^[8]

The plan has a cost. Ronin said people who already supply RON for trading on Katana would earn less in fees. It also said it was unlikely that big holders could take over the vote, because only proposals checked by the Ronin team go to a vote. ^[9] Separately, Ronin planned to move 16,234,252 RON into its treasury in October 2026. ^[9]
