Ronin Waypoint Wallet Migration: Axie Infinity Players Have Until October 16

On the 2nd of October 2026, Axie Infinity said Ronin Waypoint would be sunset. Holders must move their assets before the final migration deadline on the 16th of October 2026. Assets left in a Waypoint wallet may become inaccessible. The migration requires action from the holder. Assets stay in a Waypoint wallet until they are transferred. Holders can migrate to Ronin Stash to keep using email or social login. Axie Infinity said they can also transfer their assets to a Ronin Wallet secured by a seed phrase. bAXS and badges require a separate migration process. That process runs through the Migration Page in App.axie. The holder signs in with the Waypoint account that holds the assets. They link a seed phrase wallet to the Axie account, review the badges and bAXS, and sign the transaction. The migration can only be completed once. After the transaction is signed, the badges are permanently moved to the linked seed phrase wallet. ^[1] AXS rose 8.8% from the close of the 2nd of October 2026 to the close of the 5th of October 2026, from $1.18 to $1.29. The wider gaming market rose 6.1% over the same days.

What the token actually does

AXS is the governance token.

AXS is the governance token for the Axie Infinity game. Players can buy, sell and trade their Axies. bAXS is a variation of AXS. Each one equals 1 AXS. It can only be spent on things within Axie. It cannot be traded or transferred. App.Axie spends bAXS before AXS by default. Converting bAXS to AXS carries a Treasury fee. The fee shrinks as a player’s Axie Score rises. Axie Infinity: Origins is a free-to-play game. In it, players collect Axies, breed them, and battle in turn-based card games. Axie Classic is the original card battler. In it, players collect, breed, and battle NFT creatures called Axies. Its active development paused after its final competitive season in September 2026.

On the 2nd of October 2026, Dhara Chavda of The Crypto Times reported that Sky Mavis was switching off the email sign-in wallet system. She warned that migration deadlines are a common time for phishing, and that fake migration pages and support accounts tend to appear. A player who links the wrong wallet for the bAXS and badge step gets no second attempt, she wrote. Her advice was to type wallet.roninchain.com and app.axieinfinity.com by hand rather than follow a link from a direct message. ^[5]

More on the story

On the 16th of June 2026, Ronin said Ronin Stash was a new keyless wallet solution on Ronin. Soulbound assets were mostly tied directly to Axie Infinity. Axie’s team already had a support plan for bAXS and badge migration. Ronin set a 90-day window. It said keeping the old system running would raise development costs and split the network, and that 90 days gave active users enough time to move. It also said Ronin Stash assets might not yet work in some apps until those apps had added support for it. ^[6] Axie Infinity’s post said holders who exclusively used a seed phrase wallet were unaffected. The migration created a new Ronin Stash address for the selected assets. Some badges were attached to assets the holder owned. Those badges would move with the asset when it was transferred. Holders were told to check their account if they used a keyless wallet or social login on Ronin. Waypoint wallets were also called Social Login, Keyless or MPC wallets. ^[1]
