Project XENO Drops Prices in August 5th Update

Project XENO cuts pack prices to a third and ends Web3 features in August 5th update

Project Xeno announced on July 24 that it will add a series of balance improvements and price cuts to starter and class-specific packs. These changes go live with the August 5 update [1]. The studio had recently ended all Web3 features on July 15, including NFT trading and earn mechanics, as part of a bigger overhaul [2]. At the same time, the ongoing 3rd anniversary login campaign keeps offering rewards through August 5 [3]. That’s the official line, anyway after years of broken promises and a token that’s been in freefall, it’s hard not to roll your eyes at yet another “we’re listening” patch. Slashing pack prices to one-third of their original value sounds great on paper, but given the studio’s track record of pivoting and backpedaling, it’s fair to ask: is this a genuine olive branch or just a desperate bid to keep the lights on?

Neon Art Direction and Clarity

Let’s check out the visuals. Project Xeno uses isometric and side-on battle scenes with chibi characters. These chibis have oversized heads and pale faces, set off by dark armor or spiky hair. Neon staffs and blades throw out glowing elemental effects fire, lightning, green energy that pop against the cool-toned dusk backdrop and tiled grid floor in front of a big Japanese castle. A dark-blue interface surrounds all this with bold Japanese text, rounded buttons, and high-contrast colored icons. These frame the card art. So the whole screen feels energetic and flashy without being cluttered. The character silhouettes read clearly at a glance. And the smart use of neon against a restrained palette keeps the chaos in check. It’s a colorful, punchy look that knows exactly how to sell a fantasy fight honestly, it’s giving classic JRPG vibes.

Mixed Player Sentiment

Now let’s see what players think. Fans praise the deep strategy and beautiful graphics [4], but the experience comes with clear downsides. Some players report frequent crashes, slow loads, and disconnects that break immersion [4]. Others point to unbalanced matchmaking, expensive NFTs, and a pay-to-win system that makes free-to-play feel rough [4]. The community is divided some see potential, others smell something off.

Our shill detection shows that a large number of empty 5-star reviews and a few extremely short generic praises suggest astroturfing. [5]

Let’s see how GXE has been doing. Okay, so Project Xeno’s token was sliding down before the announcement. It was totally lagging behind other gaming tokens kind of cringe, honestly. That’s just how it was doing around the news.

August 5th Update Details

But enough about the tokens, here’s what actually happened. Login bonuses are getting better, gacha pools have higher EP+ rates, and old tickets are getting buffed too. Fighting Road, rare drops, and the complimentary Battle Pass all have improved rewards.

But the real star is the price cuts. Introductory Packs, Class Strengthening Packs, and Rutile Packs are getting slashed. The ¥4,800 packs drop to ¥1,600, and the ¥9,600 ones go down to ¥3,200. Players have been asking for this since the web2 switch [4].

A couple of things to note: the 3rd anniversary lucky bags leave on the 5th, and no compensation is coming for past buyers. Details could still change too.

Still, is this a huge step forward? The devs are *saying* they’re listening, but we’ve been here before. August 5th might be a good day for new players, but anyone who already paid full price or held tokens will probably want to keep their skepticism handy. Let’s see if the execution matches the promises.
